Preventive Health Care
To protect your pet from disease, we offer and administer numerous vaccinations to prevent the most common and deadliest diseases of companion animals. We also recommend very important services such as heartworm testing, intestinal parasite screening, feline leukemia testing, and feline AIDS testing to ensure the overall health of your companion.
General Health Screenings
Routine blood work for any animal and geriatric work-ups for those over six years of age are great ways to detect health problems as early as possible. Six-month check-ups are also highly recommended to aid in the early detection of health problems. Most problems are more treatable or manageable if caught at an early stage.
Gentle Care & Pain Control
Our philosophy is to provide pain-free health care. We strive to take a preventative approach, intervening in the early stages of painful procedures. All of our surgeries also include a pain management protocol post-operatively.
Microchipping Your Pet
A permanent identification system can be placed into your pet while you wait. At Heartland Veterinary Clinic, we offer microchipping with the Home Again® system. Home Again microchips are registered to a 24-hour recovery hotline. The unique number in your pet’s chip can be accessed by almost any veterinary practice or shelter nationwide. Home Again also offers additional lost pet services with their annual membership. Microchipping is an easy way to keep your pet safe in the Harrisonburg area and beyond.
Laser Surgery
Heartland Veterinary Clinic was the first veterinary clinic in the valley to include laser surgery and now has more than five years of experience performing these procedures. Laser technology can be employed in virtually any surgical procedure we perform. From the most routine to the most advanced, laser allows us to reduce surgical bleeding, post-operative pain, and infection rates. Ask our staff about adding laser surgery to your pet’s procedure.
